FAGALI AIRPORT GUIDE

Fagali international airport is located in Fagali village on Upolu Island on the larger Samoa Archipelago. Fagali airport was reopened on 1 July 2009 after four years of closure due to safety issues by the community. Fagali airport initially opened as a grass airstrip, but on reopening, it offered international flights to American Samoa and Pago Pago. Polynesian Airlines faced criticism on reopening the airport from the community because of environmental and safety issues as well as the burden that will fall on the community in case the project fails.

Fagali airport is located on the second largest island of the Samoan islands. The city has approximately 36000 people who enjoy the services of the airport. The airport services two airlines; Air Samoa and Polynesian Airlines. Air Samoa offers weekly flights within the Samoan islands as well as once a week flight to Ofu-Olosega Islands.

People who want to take a vacation will find the Samoan islands a great destination. There are a lot of fun activities for the whole family as well as a rich history. There are several travel websites that an individual can buy a flight to the islands, or they can choose to call the airlines directly. There are a good number of hotels to book in once a guest arrives at the airport.

The hotels are located within a few miles from the airport. Examples are the Samoan Outrigger Hotel and the Insel Fehmarn Hotel. Both hotels are located within a mile of the airport. The advantage of the Insel Fehmarn Hotel is that it offers airport transfers. Robert Louis Stevenson Museum located just one mile from the airport provides an opportunity to learn history. There is also The Museum of Samoa situated in Falemataaga that exhibits the region’s historical stories. There is a whole range of activities to take part in the Samoan Islands.
