Born on the 26th of September in 1959, Michael Lacey is vastly breaking the internet due to his expertise in mathematics. His career in mathematics did not begin the other day. From here, Lacey joined the University of Illinois based in Urbana Champaign in 1987 where he advanced his mathematical studies and earned himself a Ph.D. in pure mathematics under the watch of Water Philip who is also a guru in the field of simple and complex mathematics.

In completion of his Ph.D. with honors, he began his professional career in various learning centers. The first institution where he worked was the Louisiana state university. He later joined the University of North Carolina as a post-doctorate.

Here, he was able to make various contributions. The most celebrated achievement of Michael Thoreau Lacey in this institution is his ability to prove the central limit theorem. However, he did not do this on his own but did this through teaming up with Walter Philipp who as mentioned initially was his director while he was still pursuing his mathematical course.

Michael Lacey left University of North Carolina for Indiana University in 1989. He worked at Indiana University for seven years, and within those seven years, Lacey was fortunate enough to receive a national science foundation postdoctoral fellowship. Intelligent as he was, Lacey used the opportunity to study bilinear Hilbert transformation.

By 1966, he had solved the Hilbert transform through his collaboration with his fellow mathematician Christopher Thiele. As a result of this, the two were awarded the Salem Prize.
